City of Bones by Cassandra Clare Review

Synopsis: When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder― much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing―not even a smear of blood―to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

This is Clary's first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It's also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace's world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know...

Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

Amount of Pages it took to get into the book: 9/483 (hardcover edition)

Non-Spoiler Review: This was a re-read for me. I originally read this book in the 6th grade, recently for my birthday I got the entire Mortal Instruments Box Set. This book is so fun to read. I loved falling in love with the characters again. I loved Jace's sarcasm and just Magnus period, there was one point where I didn't like Clary. Besides that this book was amazing.

Spoiler Review: I loved the characters (Magnus, Jace, and Alec). When Simon turned into a rat I didn't like how bitchy she was being to Isabelle. Besides that I loved this book. I felt bad for Simon and angry at Jace, while I love his sarcasm I hate when he uses it to hide his feelings. I'm excited to continue this series.

The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey Review

Sypnopsis: After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see. Who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker.

Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

Amount of Pages it took to get into the book: About 40/457 (Hardcover Edition)

Non-Spoiler Review: This book took a little bit of time to get into it but once I did there was no turning around. This book is addictive. Just to warn you it changes point of view. I loved this book, there is twists and turns and the changing perspectives can be frustrating when one character knows something the other doesn't. There's also action, which involved lots of blood and guns.

Spoiler Review: This book is amazing. I loved Cassie and Evan's relationship. I suspected for a while that he was the silencer and I was right. At first I hated being in Ben's point of view just because I hated Reznik and Vosch, I grew to like it though because I wasnted to see Ringer and Sammy. Now I have to go buy the Infinite Sea so I can see what happened to Evan.

But with every clue only comes more questions. And she’s running out of time to answer them. Her only hope is a strangely alluring boy who claims to know her from before the crash. Who claims they were in love. But can she really trust him? And will he be able to protect her from the people who have been making her forget? From popular young adult author Jessica Brody, Unremembered is the start of a compelling and suspenseful new sci-fi series, set in a world where science knows no boundaries, memories are manipulated, and true love can never be forgotten.
Non-Spoiler Review: I enjoyed this book. I loved Zen and Seraphina. They're relationship was cute but also very protective of each other. I felt sad in the beginning when Seraphina could'nt remember anything. Overall I think you just have to be in the right mood to read this book. Do Not think that this is contemporary it's not.

Spoiler Review: First can I start out by saying I did not see that twist. I did not expect time travel to be anywhere in this book. Then when we found out everything just clicked. Secondly, poor Zen she's forgotten him so many times and has to get her to trust him again and again. I loved when she first saw him and got that burning on her forehead which is used as their symbol. The slow developing of all her memories was wonderful, and I loved the idea of going to 1609. This was a really good book that I recommend.

Dorthy Must Die by Danielle Paige Review

Synopsis: I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero. But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado—taking you with it—you have no choice but to go along, you know?
Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still a road of yellow brick—but even that's crumbling.
What happened? Dorothy. They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.
My name is Amy Gumm—and I'm the other girl from Kansas. I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked. I've been trained to fight. And I have a mission: Remove the Tin Woodman's heart. Steal the Scarecrow's brain. Take the Lion's courage. And—Dorothy must die.

Non-Spoiler Review: Overall I enjoyed this book, but I feel that it could've been better. Towards the end noting seemed clear anymore (which can be a good thing). The beginning was a wonderful introduction to the story and the horrors that we're going on in Oz, but the middle was just a lot of training which is why I think the second book will be better.

Spoiler Review: At first when I started reading this book I felt like it was going to be a 5 star book. It starts out great. Instead of retelling the story of "The Wizard of Oz" it tells you what happens after Dorthy saved Oz. I loved the hard truth of the beginning, all these monkeys had cut off their wings to be free, the munchkins having to drill for magic, and oh god the permasmile. When Amy has to fight the temptation of Dorthy's shoes and even Toto was evil. Towards the end the book started to irk me. The part where The Revolutionary Order of The Wicked didn't care about Maude, and Nox telling her that she ruined their entire plan. I don't even know if they really are the good guys anymore. I couldn't even tell if killing Dorthy would be good or not anymore. There was a lot of training in this book, which is why I feel like the second book will be better. Hopefully will get some more action and I hope Nox grows into his own person and isn't blinded by The Revolutionary Order of The Wicked. No one but Ollie is to be trusted.
